It’s late at night. All the children are asleep in their beds. You, too, are lying in bed … but not asleep. Why? Because you have been shaken, quite literally, out of your slumber.
Your room is moving. Well, the objects in your room are moving. Your bureau, TV stand, night stand, bed … all shaking in place, sliding back and forth across the cold hardwood, reminding you much of a scary movie. You sit up; ask yourself if you are caught in a dream, wonder when you will wake. But you don’t. It is not a dream. You are not sleeping.
